- LET ME TELL YOU about the first time I had to do the graduation thing. ->

- I get to the last page. I notice that TODAY IS THE LAST DAY TO GET TICKETS AND HIRE MY GOWN ETC ETC WHATEVER ->
- Oops. Now. I… don't care about the graduation ceremony business, but my parents are pretty into it. They will want to attend. ->
- I apply for tickets for them and confirm I will be there. This is easy. This part is free. The part with the gown hire is more tricky. ->
- The gown hire website asks me what university I attend and what degree I've just completed. These are things I can answer. ->
- Then it asks me how tall I am. This too, is a thing I can answer. ->
- THEN. Then it asks me how big my head is. How do I know? I've never had to measure my skull. ->
- I also don't have a tape measure. Being in a windowless underground computer lab. What to do. ->
- Is there…a ruler? No. Is there… string? No. I construct for myself some kind of headband out of paper. There is a lot of paper here. ->
- The problem is, I still can't measure it because I don't have a tape measure or ruler. ->
- I do have a computer lab full of computers. Google shall provide for me a picture of a ruler. ->
- Google does in fact provide for me a picture of a ruler and I make a reasonable guess at the size of my skull. ->
- The next part will illustrate how awesome my Dad was. ->
- I have tickets. They were free. The gown and booking the photo? These are not free. I have pretty much run out of student loan money. ->
- I call my Dad. "Give me your credit card details." ->
- WITHOUT QUESTION, my Dad reaches into his pocket, produces his credit card and just…gives me all his credit card details. ->
- It is after this that I say hello and tell him when the graduation stuff is all happening and he asks me about my day. ->
